Cricket: Dominant Woodhouse Grange take title

WOODHOUSE Grange lifted the Hunters York and District Senior Cricket League premier division crown for the fourth in five seasons when they overwhelmed Dunnington by nine wickets.

Dunnington duo Paul Miles and overseas star Collis King were making their farewell appearances.

Sessay’s season ended in disappointment as a seven-wicket defeat at Sheriff Hutton Bridge sent them tumbling into division one.

Bridge bowler Jamie Hopper produced his most effective spell of the season as his 5-27 sent Sessay reeling to 37-6 on the way to an all-out total of 142, Mark Fisher taking 4-36.

Bridge then progressed with little trouble to a winning 143-3 with Paul Oldfield making 54 and Adam Fisher an unbeaten 42.

A good batting performance by Stamford Bridge ensured that they would avoid accompanying their opponents Goole into division one as they had by far the better of a draw against their already relegated opponents.

Dominic Rhodes was at the forefront for Stamford, hitting 112 before Will Parker (29no) and Phil Hill (35no) hoisted the bar to 250-4. Goole struggled to make a draw at 168-8.
