Angling: Veterans reel in big hauls to win at Laybourne Lakes

FRANK HARVEY and Mick Wood were the winners of the latest York & District Amalgamation of Anglers veterans’ contest at Laybourne Lakes.
Harvey won the over-70s section of the contest on Marley Pool with a haul of 40lb 12 oz from peg 34, with Barry Richardson runner-up with 35lb 8oz.
Wood won the under-70s catagory from peg 28, scaling 62lb 8oz to finish well ahead of Stan Haigh at peg seven, whose catch weighed in at 49lb 6oz.
The next veterans’ match will be held on all pegs at Marley on Wednesday, September 12.
