THE end of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League’s centenary season will be marked with a founders’ challenge match.
Easingwold, one of the founding clubs when the league was formed in 1912, will host the game at their Back Lane ground on Sunday, September 9, starting at 1pm.
The home club will take on a squad selected by the league committee, which will include three players from Thirsk and Sessay, plus two each from Ripon, Knaresborough and Northallerton.
The game, sponsored by Galtres Timber, will be 40 overs a side, with each bowler having a maximum of eight overs.
Admission is free and there will be a barbecue, cricket teas, a raffle and bar.
