Cricket: Slingsby in play-off final

Slingsby booked their place in the Feversham Cricket League Top-Four Play-off final with a surprisingly comfortable eight-wicket win over Spout House at Wombleton.

Out-of-sorts House never mastered the accurate Slingsby attack, as Wayne Fawcett took 1-6 in five overs. Dan Medd (14) tried his best to lift them but no one else managed double figures as Fraser Land (3-13) and Matt Fraser (3-16) afforded them no respite, House dismissed for 55 in 18.2 overs.

At 7-2, with Tom Garbutt and Scott Plowman taking fine catches, Slingsby seemed in bother too.

But man-of-the-match Richard Reynolds smashed five sixes in a whirlwind 38 not out, allowing Slingsby to cruise to the final in 8.5 overs, with John Armitage also undefeated on 11.

The 24-over final, against Gillamoor, will be at Duncombe Park this Sunday, starting at 11am.
