Cricket: Draw is enough to give Ebberston title

EBBERSTON 2nds lifted the Derwent Valley League premier division title despite seeing their last game of the season at Oriel rained off.

The five points they picked up for the abandonment was enough to see them edge Ravenscar by a single point.

Ravenscar, who beat relegated Sherburn 2nds, are also promoted to the Readers Scarborough Beckett League as runners-up.

The resignation from the Beckett League earlier in the year of division ‘B’ club Hunmanby means only one team is relegated from each division from that level downwards, including in the Derwent Valley League, with two teams promoted from each division.

The roll of honour in the Derwent Valley League is below.

Div ‘A’: champions Ebberston A, runners-up Ravenscar (both promoted into Scarborough Beckett League). Sherburn 2nds are relegated to division ‘B’.

Div ‘B’: champions Great Habton, runners-up Sewerby 3rds (both promoted). Snainton 2nds relegated.

Div ‘C’: champions Wold Newton 2nds, runners-up Nawton Grange 2nds (both promoted).

Atlas Ward Cup: winners Forge Valley 3rds, runners-up: Sherburn 2nds.

Welford Cup: winners Sewerby 3rds, runners-up Seamer 3rds.

Murray Brown & son Cup: winners Filey 2nds, runners-up Nawton Grange 2nds.

• The presentation games this Saturday (September 1, 2.15pm start are listed below. Raffles will also be held, with proceeds going to league funds.
