Pool: Derwent Arms ‘B’ win league

Derwent Arms ‘B’ added the Malton & Norton League summer title to their winter crown when seeing off Hyde Park ‘A’ in the league final.

A 5-0 victory saw the Norton-based side end the season with a 100 per cent record.

Steve Mills set the ball rolling for the Derwent side with an outrageous three-cushion black.

Mark Lund made it 2-0 and Steve Pettit added the third. Darren Rushworth and Phil Arnold simultaneously potted blacks on their respective tables to seal the victory.

In the individual events, Jamie Barstow added the men’s summer title to his winter crown, house championship title and KENFI Challenge Trophy – a feat that has never been done before.

Barstow had a comfortable semi-final victory and beat James Milson 3-1 in the final. Milson had come from 1-0 behind to win his semi.

Kirsty Taylor had a clinical 2-0 win in the semi-final of the ladies’ individual and then saw off Dilys Wright, who had won her semi in a decider, 3-0 in the final.

The league’s annual general meeting and winter season registration will take place on Monday (August 13). All teams, new and old, should take completed registration forms with £15 fee to Bright Steels Social Club at 8pm.
