Former Yorkshire bowler Don Wilson dies

Former Yorkshire left-arm spinner Don Wilson has died, aged 74.

Wilson, who won seven County Championship titles with Yorkshire between 1959 and 1968, passed away at York Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Born in Settle, he took 1,189 wickets from 422 first-class matches, including 11 in six Tests for England.

He later coached at Ampleforth College , playing a significant part in the development of York’s Jonny Bairstow.
