Pikes begin preparing for 2012/13 season

Pickering Town start pre-season training tomorrow night (Thursday) at the Malton Sports Complex at 6.30pm.

They were due to start last night (Tuesday) but that session was cancelled due to England’s game against Ukraine in Euro 2012.

The Pikes are having sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next two weeks.

They will then start a programme of pre-season games, kicking off on Tuesday, July 10, when they visit York Minster Engineering League side Huntington Rovers (7pm). They will then host a York City XI on Wednesday, July 18 (7.30pm), go to Northallerton Town on Saturday, July 21, and entertain Whitby Town on Tuesday, July 31 (7.45pm).

Pickering’s Northern Counties East League premier division programme will start on Saturday, August 4, but the fixture list announcement has been delayed and will not be ready until mid-July at the earliest.

The League Cup was not drawn as usual at the league’s annual general meeting at Harrogate last Saturday.

Pickering Town’s annual sponsored walk, which will be of approximately seven miles, will take place on Sunday, July 8, with walkers to meet at the Recreation Club at 9.30am. To get a sponsor form, contact any committee member or phone club chairman/ secretary Keith Usher on 01944 711448.

Money raised will go to the ground development fund.

The Pikes will have a much improved PA system for the start of the season.

The Pikes will hold their annual general meeting on Friday, June 29, at the Recreation Club, Mill Lane, starting at 8pm. This meeting is open to all supporters and anyone wishing to get involved.

Pickering Town Juniors will hold their annual general meeting on Wednesday, June 27, at the Recreation Club, Mill Lane, Pickering, starting at 8pm.
