Joe Lumb XI lose to North Yorkshire

THE York & District Senior Cricket League’s Joe Lumb XI were edged out by seven runs against North Yorkshire at Richmond.

North Yorkshire batted first with Quinn (76) and Kendall (55) sharing an opening stand of 143. Berry (51) and Lethbridge (53) carried on the excellent batting, reaching a score of 285-6 in their 50 overs.

Ryan Partington was the most successful York bowler with 2-52 in ten overs.

York made a solid start in reply as, after losing Keiran Fenwick early, skipper Sam Beales (56) and Toby Pratt (60) added 122 for the second wicket.

Partington increased the run rate with a hard-hitting 68, only to be run out by an excellent piece of fielding.

Wicketkeeper Dan Barrett made a brave effort to win the game in the last 12 overs with a quickfire 44 not out, only to fall seven runs short at 278-6.

York’s next fixture will be against Huddersfield at Stillington Cricket Club on Sunday, June 17.
