Heworth and hosts Folkton & Flixton produced one of the highest run aggregates in the history of the Hunters York & District Senior League when 618 runs were made for the loss of 13 wickets.

The individual honours went to Heworth’s Wasim Akram, who blasted the home bowlers to all corners of their Filey Road ground. He hit a magnificent 180 off only 105 deliveries to stake an early claim for the season’s first monthly batting award.

His score was made up of 140 in boundaries as he hit 14 sixes and the same number of fours.

Richard Bowling supported with 68, while Ian Lynch chipped in with 30 to help hoist Heworth to a remarkable 342-7.

The home batsmen then came to the party with 19-year-old Oliver Stephenson leading the way with 130 off 111 deliveries.

Other runs came from Nic Zakzrewski (41) and Rich Malthouse (38) as Flixton gained a draw at 276-6.

The only side to win their first two games in the appalling weather of the past two weeks was Acomb, and they continued their triumphant march with a third win.

The latest casualties were Hull Zingari, who were tumbled out for 91 to fall well short of Acomb’s 209-9.

Leading the way for Acomb was Matt Dale with 50, while ex-Rufforth player Martin Pepper got 38, Harry Booth 33 and Joe Dale 30.

Sam Lingard then took 4-30.

Matt Westwood made a return to the Bolton Percy ranks and scored 32 when Bolton took first use of the Fenner pitch.

Peter Houseman was unbeaten with the same score, but Richard Barker took the first four Percy wickets in figures of 4-33 to restrict them to 129-9.

Two quick wickets for Ally Rigby reduced Fenner to 6-2, but they were able to ease to a winning 130-5.

A miserly spell of bowling by Dave Greenlay set up a five- wicket home win when Sewerby travelled to meet Pickering.

The all-rounder conceded only 16 runs in 20.2 overs while bagging five wickets to wipe away Sewerby for 109.

In reply, Chris Nicholls hit 30.
