Football: Newlands Park keep title hopes bubbling

Newlands Park maintained title hopes in Scarborough & District League division one by winning 3-2 at Edgehill.
Josh Hakings and Sean Exley put them two up before Aran Jenkins and Andy Noon levelled. A great finish by Eric Hall then won it for Park.
In midweek, Filey Town beat Scalby 6-2 to send Scalby down.
Filey played at West Pier and Newlands were at Eastfield St James on Monday night – details of these will be carried in next week’s Gazette.
In division two, Whitby Fishermen beat Edgehill Reserves 6-0 on Saturday, Neil Hart hitting two. In midweek the Fishermen beat Nelson 5-1 away. They also hosted Filey reserves on Monday.
In division three, Ayton Reserves finished term in style by beating FC Soba 6-1. Soba could only field 10 men. Chris Stubbings hit a hat-trick.
