Whitby TOWN moved up to 20th in the Northern Premier League premier division following a 2-1 win over Rushall Olympic which saw the visitors have three men sent off.
Rushall’s James Skedgel, Christian Dacres and Gary Fitzpatrick were all dismissed as Whitby recovered from going a goal behind to claim three vital points with a brace from Andy Appleby.
Luke Bottomer’s goal, a low 18-yard shot after 14 minutes, gave Rushall the lead and it remained that way until midway into the second half when Skedgel was given a red card after picking up two cautions.
Whitby equalised on 72 minutes through Appleby and Rushall were then down to nine men after Dacres was sent off for a shocking tackle on Jamie Clark five minutes later.
Fitzpatrick, who came on as substitute for Bottomer, lasted just eight minutes – dismissed after receiving a second yellow – and, with eight men, Rushall yielded to the inevitable when Appleby scored the winner with six minutes to go.
On Saturday, Whitby are at Worksop Town, who are 12th in the table.
