Malton & Norton 2nds extended their unbeaten run to 13 games with a 27-18 win over a strong Pocklington second string at The Gannock.
Pock took advantage of the sin-binning of Malt’s Liam Vaughan to lead 18-9 at halftime, James Wainwright kicking three penalties for the hosts.
The hosts bagged the first points of the second half, with Wainwright kicking a penalty and then number eight Dan Coates crossed for a try.
Straight from the kick off, Malton were awarded a penalty try after winger Jay Brown was tripped as he approached the line.
Wainwright added the extras to give Malt a 24-18 lead, but with ten minutes to go they were reduced to 14 men when Vaughan was shown a red card.
The home side kept Pock out and managed to add a further Wainwright penalty.
On Saturday, the seconds host Hull and York Medics.
Malton 3rds lost 22-17 in a hastily-arranged friendly at Scarborough. The home side led 15-5 at half-time, with winger Neil Gilbertson crossing for Malton. After the break, Gilbertson completed his hattrick and fly-half Matt Midgley added a conversion.
