‘If at first you don’t succeed...’ is a policy being adopted by Norton trainer John Quinn with Superplex, who, after several near misses, remains a maiden after ten races.
The three-year-old sprinter tries again at Wolverhampton tomorrow when he will have the services of Michael O’Connell.
Superplex has finished second three times and third three times, but still that first success has proved elusive.
His latest outing, over this five-furlong distance, saw him fill a minor placing once again at Lingfield.
The Ringside Conference Suite Maiden Stakes will not take a great deal of winning, and Superplex deserves one more chance to get his head in front.
Thirsk trainer Noel Wilson can score with Drive Home in the Sponsor A Race By Calling 01902 390000 Handicap.
The mount of Barry McHugh, the five-year-old won on this course four weeks ago, beating Crocodile Bay, who has since franked the form by going one better last weekend.
Drive Home is set to race off a 5lb higher mark tomorrow, but he may be up to obliging again for his North Yorkshire connections.
The nap vote is awarded to Chester’slittlegem in the Name A Race To Enhance Your Brand Handicap.
Trained by Ed Giles, who proved last season in his first year as a trainer that he has what it takes to produce winners, Chester’slittlegem was a winner on this course on her second outing and has since finished a creditable fourth switched to Kempton.
Back to her winning venue, Chester’slittlegem has had only three outings and looks open to further improvement.
She can notch win number two in the hands of Chris Catlin.
Shane B Kelly has enjoyed a good run of things in recent weeks for his new boss, Richard Fahey, and the Malton apprentice can add to his tally for Irish trainer Adrian McGuinness aboard Blue Cross Boy.
The seven-year-old recently scored on Ireland’s all-weather course at Dundalk and looks in good heart.
He runs tomorrow in the Bet At Blue Square Apprentice Handicap and should give the accomplished and experienced Kelly a good ride.
Hayley Turner has been enjoying her share of winners since returning from the injury, which sidelined her for the latter part of last season, and Britain’s most successful female jockey has good prospects aboard Clean Bowled in the Enjoy The Punters Package Group Offer Claiming Stakes.
The three-year-old is trained by Alan McCabe, whose horses continue to be in good form.
