REIGNING premier division champions Dringhouses proved they can still mix it with the leading sides in the York Minster Engineering Football League as they drew 3-3 with Old Malton St Mary’s.

’Houses are unlikely to retain their title after a tricky start to the campaign, but they were in superb form at St Helen’s Road on Saturday.

The sides were level at the break, with Saints’ John Newton restoring parity after Mitch Carter’s opening goal for the hosts.

The Ryedale side struck first after half-time with a Neil Wilford penalty.

With ten minutes to go, George Bissett levelled for Dringhouses, only for Danny Fogg to restore Old Malton’s lead.

However, with virtually the last kick of the game, Tom Bissett hit an inch-perfect free-kick which flew into the top corner to snatch a point for the home side. Leaders Huntington Rovers had little difficulty in extending their unbeaten home run to nine matches after they hammered basement side Keystones 8-2, with Gary Newton hitting half of their goals.

James Edmund, Chris Dyson (2) and Dale Waddington completed the tally. Dunnington remain only a point adrift of the leaders after Tom Matthews hit the only goal of their home encounter with Wigginton.

Poppleton were the only side in the bottom six to collect any points as they beat fellow strugglers Easingwold 3-2.

Mark Coulson’s opening goal for visitors Easingwold was cancelled by Ben Janes before the break.

A fortuitous deflection then gave Pop the advantage before Nick Moss extended their lead before Gary Raper bagged a late goal for Easingwold.

York RI managed double figures against a forlorn Haxby United side, winning 10-0.

Mark Woodward hit five of their goals, with Nick Huchinson (2), Shaun Stockdale (2) and Lee Powell completing the rout.

Wilberfoss are still looking for their first away win in eight despite Olly Newby giving them the lead at Nestlé.

Chris Horwood levelled for the hosts at Mille Crux and Richard Bedingham hit the Nestlé winner.

Riccall never recovered from conceding three first-half goals at Hamilton Panthers as they lost 4-0.

Paul King, Anthony Evans (2) and Scott Nicholas were on target for Panthers.

The battle to avoid relegation from division one intensified after the bottom four sides all collected points. Basement side Heworth had led 2-1 at Tockwith but needed a last-gasp equaliser to snatch a point from a 3-3 draw.

The Tockwith marksmen were Andy Wilson, Adam Fairhurst and Callum Willey. Third-placed Bishopthorpe took an early lead through Johan Beecher in their clash with struggling Selby RSSC, but the visitors bounced back with goals from Rob Friar (2), Jon Teale and Hayden Parsonage to win 4-1.

It is now almost eight hours since Pocklington last scored an away goal after they drew 0-0 at Malton & Norton.

Hemingbrough’s Luke Zacharenko scored for the fifth game on the trot as his side beat St Clement’s 3-2. Aidy Wood also added his name to the scoresheet.

The division’s top goalscorer added another five to his tally – Alex Yates netting all of Terrington’s goals in a 5-3 win at Post Office.

The Post Office scorers were Richard Winter and Wood brothers, Sam and Will.
