Bagby & Balk rose to second in newitts.com Beckett League division one after a 4-0 win at Aislaby United.

All the goals came in the first half, though Dan George, Martin Kendall and Darren Bell (2).

Aislaby came into the game more in the second half but could not get past Bagby’s impressive young goalkeeper, Tommy Hunter.

Right-back Peter Gray was Bagby’s man of the match for the third time in four weeks. Kenny Temple was Aislaby’s top performer.

Rosedale drew 2-2 at Thornton-le-Dale after the game was switched from Rosedale due to a waterlogged pitch.

Rosedale were the better side for the opening 20 minutes and Sam Burns scored a brilliant solo goal.

Top performer David Elliot latched onto a fine through ball to equalise and got his second on 56 minutes as Thornton got on top, but Rosedale deservedly levelled when man-of-the-match Jonathan Seller’s deep cross saw Martin Foxton somehow force the ball in.

Thornton goalkeeper Stuart Hill made two brilliant late saves to earn the point.

Kirkbymoorside Reserves stayed top with a 2-0 win at derby rivals Kirkdale United, Martin Charlton, pictured, and Edward Strickland scoring in either half.

Kirkdale’s men of the match were defender Ben Swalwell and midfielder Oliver Metcalfe. Defender Karl Richardson won the Kirkby award.

Huntington stayed top of division two after a 9-2 rout at Pro-Pak Reserves.

Huntington, for whom Ben Croake was the top performer, led 3-2 at the interval and Pro-Pak then ran out of steam. The Huntington scorers were James Smith (3), Luke Smith (2), Sam Lowther (2), Aaron Rose and Ricky Mizzi. Pro-Pak man-of-the-match Tom Delaney and Calum McFarlane replied.

Norton United are a point behind the leaders with three games in hand after holding on to beat visitors Pickering Knights in a game switched from Pickering.

Will Spowart, Graham England and Tom Ellison put Norton 3-0 up before Tom Kettlewood bagged a brace in response for the Knights, whose star men were goalkeeper Liam Hartas and defender James Jeavons. Full-back Eddie Arthur was Norton’s man of the match.

Ampleforth led Gillamoor Reserves 3-1 after 20 minutes but lost 7-3 to fall to sixth, as Gill’s Sam Appleby scored his first hat-trick in senior football.

Ampleforth hit a post before Lewis Hutchinson, their man of the match, and Ben Leach put them 2-0 up. Jake Dennison, starting his first league game for third-placed Gillamoor, pulled a goal back before Ed Fawcett restored the two-goal advantage.

Ampleforth’s George Kirk also hit the bar before Gillamoor’s man of the match, Patrick Bernstein, got hold of midfield and his side started to play. This brought goals for Appleby (3), Dennison, Josh Tateson and Bernstein himself, with his first of the season.

Amotherby & Swinton 3rds rose to fourth after a 4-1 win against Union Rovers 2nds in a game switched to Malton’s Gannock pitch as Amotherby’s was unplayable.

Shane Olley, Ben Weatherill (2), who was joint-man of the match with centre-back Jim Whelan, and Billy Bowns, superbly heading home a Josh Garcia cross, were on target. Right-midfielder Luke Dawson, Rovers’ top man, replied.

Thornton-le-Dale Reserves switched home advantage with Duncombe Park and duly lost 3-2 in a game of two halves.

Duncombe stormed 3-0 up through Nick Allenby (2) and Phil Marwood, who netted a superb header. Their men of the match were midfielder Phil Marwood and centre-back James Oldmeadow. Dale, for whom Lee Allardice made an impressive debut, came back with goals by Ali Fothergill and Adam Parker.

Union Rovers set up a Ryedale Hospital Cup third round tie at home to Rosedale by beating Rillington Athletic Reserves 3-0.

John Peel, Dean Readman and Chris Hodgson were the marksmen for Union, whose man of the match was Dwaine Young at centre-back. Left-midfielder Adam Spaven and ’keeper Steve Oxendale stood out for Rillington.

In the third round, Slingsby were shock 1-0 winners at Sinnington thanks to a 58th-minute goal by Richard Cass following good work by Gary Grice. Slingsby also had a penalty by Jamie Ward saved by Mark Langdale. Cass and Alex Malton were Slingsby’s star men, while the Sinners’ man of the match was Paul Harland.

Gillamoor came from behind to beat second division Heslerton 2-1 with goals from Danny Butterworth and substitute Nick Hodgson.

The visitors had taken the lead through Andrew Sellars but could not get past Gills’ man of the match goalkeeper Shaun Dowson again.
