ALLERTHORPE Park Golf Club’s new captains for the 2010/11 season started the year in fine style with their captains’ drive-in.
Captain Peter Turner, lady captain Sheila Burton, vice-captain Andy Barrett and lady vice-captain Marian Pearson hit their inaugural drives from the first tee watched by a pack of club members.
The winners of the captains’ tournament – an American greensomes compeition – were Iain Charlton and Margaret Senior.
Meanwhile, the club is to host a charity golf day for St John’s Church of Stamford Bridge.
The four-ball stableford competition will be on Saturday, November 27 with tee times starting from 11am.
Entry is £160 each team and includes a bacon roll and coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf, a three-course evening meal and free entry into a raffle.

STEVE REID won Malton & Norton GC’s Ken Machin Trophy with a score of 81-13-68, two shots clear of Eric Rix, who pipped Dave Newsome into second place on count-back.
