RJF Homes Beckett Football League round-up

RESURGENT Bagby & Balk have shot up from bottom to fourth place in division one of the RJF Homes Beckett Football League.

Goal ace Andrew Parkinson scored a hat-trick in Saturday’s 5-2 victory over visiting Thornton-le-Dale – Bagby’s third win on the bounce.

Parkinson, who has scored eight goals in those three victories, netted on eight minutes and 18 minutes, while Ben Thompson pulled a goal back for Dale before half-time.

Dan George increased Bagby’s lead on the hour and man of the match Parkinson completed his hat-trick after 68 minutes.

Thornton-le-Dale grabbed a second when Tom Atkinson’s shot was deflected in off Thompson with 13 minutes remaining.

Substitute Darren Bell restored Bagby’s three-goal advantage on 85 minutes.

Union Rovers moved up to fifth after a 3-1 victory at home to Slingsby in a rearranged game.

Slingsby’s Nigel Allen was denied by Rovers ’keeper John Towse after only 30 seconds, but the home side came back strongly.

Peter Tiffany put Union Rovers in front on 16 minutes with a 25-yard shot which took a deflection off Slingsby’s Cirk Newton.

Tiffany added a second from the edge of the box on 71 minutes, but Slingsby got on the scoresheet five minutes later when Jamie Tymon finished brilliantly from 15 yards.

Dwayne Young’s 79th-minute strike made the game safe for Rovers, who are five points behind leaders Gillamoor with two games in hand.

Andy Colgan was Rovers’ man of the match, with captain Jamie Ward taking the Slingsby honour.

Division two leaders Bay Horse maintained their unbeaten record with a 4-3 victory at Duncombe Park.

The visitors led 4-1 at half-time, with William Smith netting for Duncombe Park.

After the break, Park hit back with an own goal and a Nick Allenby strike but failed to find the equaliser their performance deserved.

Unbeaten Pro-Pak moved into second place with a 5-2 home victory against under-strength Union Rovers 2nds.

Dean Sleightholme put the hosts in front on three minutes and Rovers, who had no substitutes, lost a man to injury.

Chris Cooke levelled for the ten men before the break, but Pro-Pak came out firing after half-time and Peter Webster, Daniel Nunwick and Shane Bogg all netted in a ten-minute spell.

Edgar Ledjas added the fifth before Martin Winstanley-Smith pulled a goal back from the penalty spot.

Promising youngster Jason Brown grabbed a hat-trick as Gillamoor Reserves trounced hosts Huntington 4-0.

Josh Tateson and Brown made it 2-0 at the interval and Brown completed his treble in the second half.

Basement side Rillington Athletic Reserves went down 5-2 at home to Thornton-le-Dale Reserves.

Josh Evans scored twice from the penalty spot to add to goals from Luke Tipping, man of the match Jake Harrison and Ali Fothersgill.

Colin Palmer and David Thompson scored for Rillington, who have won only one of their 16 games.
