YORKSHIRE made a solid start to their Specsavers County Championship match against Middlesex at Headingley, reaching lunch on day two at 77-1 from 33 overs.

The first day was washed out due to rain before Middlesex opted to bowl following an uncontested toss this morning.

Unbeaten Adam Lyth and Shaun Marsh shared 39 inside 19 overs before the latter batsman was trapped lbw by Steven Finn for 22.

James Harris bowled six maidens on the trot, having come on first change for Finn from the Football Stand End, while James Franklin started his spell with three maidens.

Lyth impressed for 38 not out at the interval with eight fours. Alex Lees, having dropped down to number three, begins the afternoon on 12.
