THERE will be no play before lunch at Headingley on day one of Yorkshire's match against Middlesex in the Specsavers County Championship.

Heavy overnight and morning rain put paid to the chances of a start on time at 10.30am, with the umpires making the decision on lunch shortly afterwards.

With puddles forming on the outfield, there is a particular problem area at the Football Stand End of the ground, with chances of any play today being remote. There has not been a toss or any teams announced.

Yorkshire are currently seventh in Division One and 23 points clear of second-bottom Somerset, who are in the relegation zone. Defending champions Middlesex are sixth and three points better off.

This is the first of four remaining games in Division One.
