WITH only two weekends of the York & District Senior League left, the promotion places in Galtres division four have been decided.

Third-placed Heslington II cannot catch either Thorp Arch & Boston Spa II or Huby II.

Huby had a free weekend, while TABS benefitted from a concession from Hovingham II. However, the title has still to be decided.

In other fixtures in the division, Heslington II won a low-scoring encounter by 14 runs at Stillington II and were grateful to runs from P Noble (55) and wickets from Josh Cowley (3-26) and Peter Coulthard (3-17).

Copmanthorpe II defeated Duncombe Park II by ten wickets, chasing down 128 after Nick Winstanley made 72 not out and Adam Mosley enjoyed a fine all-round game, picking up 3-10 and scoring 42 not out.

Neil Fairweather also enjoyed a good day for Sheriff Hutton II as they entertained Dringhouses II.

He made 66 not out as he combined with A Vani (36) in Bridge's 147-6. Fairweather then took 3-23 and P Headington 3-3 as the visitors were bowled out for 93.

With four games left to play in the other divisions, Sheriff Hutton Bridge II remain 58 points clear at the top of Galtres division two as Jordan Grose took 6-6 against bottom-placed Stillington on a day when many bowlers enjoyed the better of things.

The visitors were bowled out for 86 and Toby Latham's 57 not out ensured Bridge had no issues as they achieved their target for the loss of two wickets.

Pannal maintained the status quo after their victory over visiting Thorp Arch and Boston Spa. Batting first, Pannal made 152, with Nitikant Kasana (3-34) and Toby Wells (3-36) among the wickets.

However, the home team were again indebted to the left-arm spin of Rob Smith, who took his second seven-wicket haul of the season in taking 7-41 as TABS were dismissed for 110.

Another bowler to enjoy a seven-wicket haul was Ed Day as he took 7-12 for Tadcaster Magnets against visiting Sessay II. Only Paul Flintoff (28) put up any fight in the visitors' 106.

Magnets lost five wickets in response but Rory Coe's 47 not out saw his side home in the 23rd over.

There were two more excellent bowling spells when New Earswick travelled to Hovingham. The home side batted first, Alistair Thorpe (97) making the top score of the day in the division, Josh Prest (28) helping them to 202.

All of this happened despite 5-26 from Andy Routledge – who also took four wickets in four balls.

In response, New Earswick found Tom Lund in devastating form as he bagged 6-45 and, despite 46 not out from Chris Smith, were bowled out for 140 to give the home team the full 30 points.

Duncombe Park and Thirsk was lost to the weather and the remaining fixture involved a dramatic batting collapse when Osbaldwick visited Bilton in Ainsty.

The home team made 184, with contributions from Adam Fairhurst (33), Graham Hutchison (30) and Andy Walker (26). Alex Rippon was again Oso's most successful bowler with 4-44.

Oso, in response, were looking well set at 118-1 thanks to runs from Matt Dunne (26) and Lewis Sansome (67).

However, Sansome's dismissal triggered a collapse of eight wickets for 20 as the visitors succumbed for 150, with fantastic spells from Graham Hutchison (4-20) and Rob Hildreth (4-33).

Rowntrees & Huntington have stretched their lead at the top of Galtres division three after York IV conceded the fixture, while the match between second-placed Knaresborough II and third-placed Wetherby had to be abandoned when the game was near to completion, with Wetherby 68-7 in reply to Knaresborough's 121.

Easingwold II were the only team in the top four to finish a game as they visited Osbaldwick II.

Dan Copeland scored 65 to add to his other fifty and three centuries already this season and, along with Max Cosgrove and Martin Robinson (36 each), Easingwold made 184.

Osbaldwick were indebted to a quality spell from Grace Hall, who picked up 4-22.

Oso in reply made a decent fight of the chase, with Andy Hall making 28 and Andy Richardson 39, but they ended up short of the target on 163-6.

At the other end of the division, New Earswick II are now 56 points off safety as they suffered a home defeat at the hands of Sheriff Hutton.

The hosts had contributions from skipper Dave Scott (32) and Dan Lockwood (34) but Ian Bews (3-49) and Dave Hull (4-17) helped dismiss them for 116.

In response, Craig Stimpson picked up 3-20 but these were all the wickets to fall as Geoff Schofield saw Sheriff Hutton home in the 26th over to claim the full 30 points.

Heworth III remain rooted in the bottom two after a convincing defeat at Huby.

The visitors could only make 58, which the home team managed to knock off for the loss of two wickets in the 15th over.

Woodhouse Grange III picked up 11 valuable points to stretch the gap between them and the bottom two in their fixture at home to Tadcaster Magnets II.

John Hunter made the only century in the Galtres divisions as he rattled up 124 and, along with Phil Wilson (35), set Grange an imposing 211-6, with Dan Durkin picking up 3-61.

Stuart Craven made 30 and Matt Ainley 58 but 3-57 from Taylor Shann and 4-42 from Will Walker had the home team in deep trouble. However, Magnets could not complete the win and Woodhouse held out for a draw at 160-9.
