SESSAY stretched their lead at the top of the Hunters York & District Senior League with a victory over title challengers Studley Royal, who began the day in second place.

Wickets from Stephen Langstaff (4-39) helped the competition's front runners restrict the visitors to 166-9, which included 49 from Rob Nicholson and 39 from Dan Craven.

Craven went on to take 3-23, but was unable to prevent the home side making it four wins in a row, Jacob Spencer top scoring for them with 47.

Castleford climbed above Studley Royal and back into the promotion places with a five-wicket win at relegation-threatened Bolton Percy.

Just as in the first meeting between the sides, the home team were unable to handle Castleford skipper David Wainwright (5-17) as he once again picked up five wickets, Eddie Morrison (3-28) also chipping in as they were bowled out for 101, 36 of those coming from Danny White. The visitors did not have everything their own way, however, and lost five wickets in reaching the target, three of those going to Mark Riley (3-39) as Luke Edwards top scored with 38.

Dunnington remain in the running for promotion after they came through an extraordinary match at Common Road against Whitkirk during which almost 500 runs were scored for the loss of only four wickets.

There were half-centuries for Matthew (53) and Simon Webb (71), as well as Mark Murphy (71) in the visitors' 249-2.

Jake Murphy (54) made one in reply for the home side but the stand-out innings came from Adam Sutcliffe, who completed his second three figure score of the season, finishing on 142 not out.

An unbeaten 75 from Kevin Woodcock saw Driffield Town home as they beat Pickering by seven wickets at Kings Mill Road.

Dave Greenlay (69) and Isaac Christopher (33) provided the majority of the visitors' runs but their efforts were undone by some good bowling by Nicky Johnson (5-62) and Ollie West (3-41), which restricted the total to 179-9.

The home side went on to secure a seven-wicket win, with both James Pick (41) and Luke Ramsey (41) supporting Woodcock's effort.

York skipper Nick Kay had a day to remember, an excellent all-round performance leading to a victory over Beverley Town at Norwood Park.

His 6-48 helped bowl out the home side for 176 in which Greg Whyley top scored with 54 and Tom Hudson made 36.

The visitors chased down their target for the loss of four wickets with three overs to spare, Joe Ashdown making 39 and Kay a season's-best 71.

When Goole Town inflicted a sixth straight defeat on Malton & Old Malton in May it left them bottom of the table.

Three months on both the result and the roles have been reversed.

Town, without a win since, lost this latest match by 105 runs.

Three wickets each from Michael Linsley (3-19) and William Spencer (3-16) helped bowl out the home side for just 65.

That was in reply to 173-8, Linsley having contributed 64 and Daniel Foxton 49, David England (4-40) dong well for the hosts.
