THREE-time Big Bash winner Shaun Marsh is eyeing another Twenty20 champions' medal after arriving in Yorkshire.

Australia batsman Marsh has signed an overseas deal with the county for the entirety of the forthcoming NatWest T20 Blast.

The left-hander will also provide Championship cover for compatriot Peter Handscomb when he leaves for international duty in August.

It is not yet clear how much four-day cricket the West Australian will play but, if needed, he is available for the rest of the summer – and he can't wait to get stuck in.

"I'm really happy to be here," said Marsh, whose only previous county spell saw him play six Blast games for Glamorgan in 2012.

"It's always been a dream of mine to come and play a bit of county cricket and T20 stuff. To be here at Yorkshire now, I'm looking forward to the next few months and hopefully I can go and get a few runs out there."

Marsh, who turns 34 on July 9 – two days after Yorkshire's opening Blast game against Nottinghamshire at Headingley – has an enviable T20 batting record.

He has scored 5,147 runs from 152 matches at an average of 39.59, including two hundreds and 40 fifties. He has played 15 times for Australia in that format, added to 23 Test Matches and 53 one-day internationals.

It is that, along with his experience of three Big Bash wins with home side Perth Scorchers, that attracted Yorkshire's hierarchy to sign him as a replacement for Travis Head.

"I've had a couple of wins with the Scorchers, so hopefully I can bring a bit of that to this group and the experiences I've gained over a long period of time," said Marsh.

"I'm looking to get out there with the boys and start off with a couple of wins. We've got a really experienced side with guys who've been around the T20 circuit. Hopefully we can build some momentum early and have a really successful campaign together."

Marsh made his last T20 international appearance in January 2016, while his last outing for Australia in any form came on their Test tour of India in late March.

He does not believe he has come to Yorkshire with something to prove but does admit that he needs a special run of form to get back into the national side.

"I certainly haven't given up the dream of playing for Australia again – but I probably know at my age I have to score a mountain of runs to get back in," said Marsh.

"It's a long way off at the moment but if I put runs on the board…it all starts here. Then, if I have a strong start to the season with WA back home, you never know.

"But it's not something I'm thinking about at the moment. I want to perform well for Yorkshire in the T20s first and foremost, then red-ball cricket and go home with a few runs under my belt."

Marsh, who met the Yorkshire squad at Headingley, has played with David Willey and Tim Bresnan at the Scorchers, winning their third title in the most recent winter.

He spoke to Handscomb about joining Yorkshire, as well as national coach Darren Lehmann, and said: "Boof (Lehmann) has always spoken fondly about Yorkshire. There's been a lot of Australian players playing for Yorkshire over the last few years.

"Everyone I've spoken to about coming here, they've said positive things and what a fantastic place it is to play cricket. I'm really excited."
