PICKERING enjoyed a derby victory over Malton & Old Malton in the York & District Senior League's Hunters Cup first round - but they were made to work hard for it.

The visitors made a competitive 192 all out, with Tom Busby (59), Stephen Linsley (56) and Michael Linsley (28) the form batsmen.

However, Isaac Christopher (4-17) ensured the total was kept within reach, and this proved to be the case as Pickering hit their total after 36 overs as Chris Nichols (70), Matt Butler (39) and David Greenlay (30 not out) guided them into the next round.

In a one-sided affair at Heworth, Dunnington recorded the highest total of the day of 358-7, going on to win by 172 runs.

Sessay hit 235-6 against York, Mark Johnson (55), Matthew Wass (75) and Tim Hall (42) producing a strong team performance with the bat.

Matthew Ball (65) looked in determined mood for York in reply, but he found support difficult to come by and in the end they fell well short on 170 all out, Stephen Langstaff (3-49) and Mark Wilkie (3-30) making sure it was their side who ran out comfortable winners.

Folkton & Flixton saw off Driffield.

Despite good contributions from Grant Halder (52) and Owen Goldworthy (42), the visitors were all out for 159, Tom Norman (4-40) and Harry Walmsley (3-24) the pick of the bowlers.

Rich Malthouse (55), Will Norman (36no) and Norman (51no) saw F&F home in 30.2 overs.

Bolton Percy brushed aside Goole Town in a 10-wicket victory. Goole were bowled out for 113 with Thomas Anderson (3-24) and Will Phelps (3-11) doing significant damage, before openers Tom Dean (41) and Tom Atkinson (66) saw Percy to victory after just 23.2 overs.

Eddie Cole hit 100 and Connor Hyde 78 as Castleford beat Whitkirk.

Castleford recorded 242-5 and, while Mark Murphy (57) did his utmost to keep Whitkirk in the game, Eddie Morrison (3-29) and David Young (4-26) saw them all out for 157.

Hull Zingari failed to build on their promising league form as they lost by 161 runs at home to Beverley.

Brad Dobson (75) helped the visitors set 252-8, before Zingari limped to 91 all out, Greg Whyley (4-19) the pick of the bowlers.

Studley Royal may have been concerned at the break after reaching only 148-9 against Harrogate, Will Wray (29) the only notable performer with the bat as Harry Stothard took 3-29 and Ben Bartlett 3-20.

However, Josh Chandler then grabbed 4-29, and, although Jordan Marshall (45) and Harry Stothard (29) tried to get Gate back in the game, they were all out for 114 after 35.3 overs.
