AFTER the feast comes the famine and we are certainly starved of a bit of quality following a top-class weekend of action.

That said, there are still plenty of horses who can take advantage on what is a decidedly low-key Monday, not least Royal Salute, who lines up in the Strong Flavours Handicap Chase at Plumpton.

The seven-year-old has not done too badly so far, winning three of his 14 outings, including over this course and distance last time out.

Racing off a 4lb lower mark earlier this month, Royal Salute was equipped with both blinkers and a tongue tie and those aids appeared to combine well to help keep his jumping on point.

Some minor errors had cost him in previous outings but a clear round saw Royal Salute staying on strongly to register a length-and-three-quarters verdict for trainer Anthony Honeyball and jockey Harry Cobden.

Oscars Boss in the pick in the Bill Cornford Memorial Maiden Hurdle as he has his first start over obstacles.

Trained by Adrian Maguire in Ireland last year, Oscars Boss was a twice a winner in bumper company in 2016, including when beating the well-regarded Black Ace at Tipperary last July.

His final outing yielded a satisfactory third behind the well-tried Miss Eyecatcher, but Oscars Boss always looked the type who would improve for an obstacle and he can make a winning start for Neil Mulholland.

Fattsota can follow up his recent Musselburgh win with victory in the Racing UK Novices' Hurdle at Ayr.

A classy performer on the Flat for Marco Botti, Fattsota has made a late switch to the National Hunt sphere at the age of nine and while he appears unlikely to make a real impression over jumps, he is useful enough.

He chased home Sumkindofking on his jumps bow but stepped up on that to win with something in hand for David O'Meara on his most recent outing.

Fattsota wandered around a bit at a few hurdles but that could purely have been down to the fact he was doing it the hard way from the front and he will surely be better on that score with a bit of company.

Vouvray can make a winning British bow in the racinguk.com "National Hunt" Maiden Hurdle.

The six-year-old won a point to point last November and looks a fine recruit for Nicky Richards.

Hold On Magnolia was beaten just a neck in a tight finish at Southwell and can go a couple of places better in the Betway Handicap back at the Nottinghamshire circuit.

While it was only a modest event, Richard Fahey's charge turned in a more than satisfactory effort given that he had been raised 4lb for winning at Newcastle before Christmas.

The handicapper has left him alone following that run and he is very versatile in terms of all-weather surfaces.

Vivat Rex ran a shocker when last seen but should be given chance to redeem himself in the sunbets.co.uk Download The App Claiming Stakes.

Dropped back in class and returned to the Fibresand, he can turn that form around.
