ONENIGHTINVIENNA can carry the famous colours of Aintree hero West Tip to glory in the Coral Welsh Grand National at Chepstow.

The Judith Luff-owned gelding proved to be a decent chaser in his novice season last term, winning one of his five starts as well as posting a particularly pleasing second to subsequent RSA Chase hero Blaklion at Cheltenham last December.

Yet the seven-year-old fell short when upped to Grade Two company after that and any thoughts of Cheltenham were abandoned in favour of a crack at the Grand National.

It was a bold move by Luff and trainer Philip Hobbs to pitch a novice into the Aintree contest – but it failed to pay off as Onenightinvienna unshipped his rider at Becher's Brook the second time around when already some way off the pace.

Onenightinvienna showed no ill effects from that experience on his seasonal bow, winning a two-horse event at Carlisle in workmanlike style last month.

He was conceding 8lb when winning by just under two lengths and, with that run under his belt, should be fit enough to do himself justice as today's nap selection under Tom O'Brien.

Harry Topper is a fascinating runner as he returns to action after a long lay off and while he might not be quite as sharp as some of his rivals, he could run into a place.

It would take a brave soul to oppose DEFI DU SEUIL in the coral.co.uk Future Champions Finale Juvenile Hurdle, so if you do not want to back the favourite, it may pay to leave this Grade One race well alone.

Also trained by Hobbs, he has won each of his three British outings – including two Grade Two events at Cheltenham – without really coming off the bridle.

He is among the leading lights for the Triumph Hurdle already and it will be disappointing if he does not extend his unbeaten sequence. Richard Johnson is in the saddle.

All eyes at Kempton will be on ALTIOR as he tackles the 32Red.com Wayward Lad Novices' Chase and he should be another high-profile victor for the Henderson team.

Last season's Supreme winner has made a faultless transition to chasing, winning by 63 lengths on his reappearance before strolling home by six lengths at Grade One level last time.

His jumping was a little bit patchy at Sandown on the latter occasion but he came good in the end and the experience should have taught him plenty ahead of this assignment, which sees Noel Fehily on the reins.

SIRE DE GRUGY, ridden by Jamie Moore, can repeat his success of 2013 in the 32Red Desert Orchid Chase.

Gary Moore's charge claimed the Grade Two heat in what was his landmark Champion Chase-winning campaign and while he has not quite reached those heights subsequently, he has been batting away admirably at the highest level.

Beaten by the incomparable Sprinter Sacre in this race last year, Sire De Grugy ran Un De Sceaux to a length last time in a pulsating renewal of the Tingle Creek and that kind of form makes him the one to be with.

Wetherby's 188Bet Castleford Handicap Chase is not the race it was but APTERIX can make the most of the opportunity to bring up his hat-trick.

A winner at Sedgefield in November, he triumphed over this course and distance at the start of the month and looks a useful contender on his current mark. Danny Cook is today's pilot.

At Wolverhampton, GLEAMING GIRL is the pick in the 32Red.com EBF Fillies' Handicap after hitting the mark at Newcastle last time out.
