NEW signing Lamin Colley scored on his debut as Scarborough Athletic returned to winning ways in Evo-Stik First Division North last weekend, writes Ian Appleyard.

Former Bradford Park Avenue striker Colley had joined the Seasiders on a month's loan from Boston United and scored in the 3-1 victory over Droylsden. Carl Stewart scored the other two goals.

Striker Jake Day, 24, was on the bench for second placed Boro after moving from Humber Premier League side East Yorkshire Carnegie.

Both players are likely to be involved in this weekend's home game with Mossley who were due to play host to Nantwich Town last night in the Integro League Cup.

A goal from Jordan Harrison gave Boro a 1-0 victory last Tuesday in the North Riding CFA Senior Cup against Teesside League side Redcar Town.

Ten-man Whitby Town bowed out of the FA Trophy last weekend following a 3-0 defeat at Evo-Stik League first division south front-runners Shaw Lane.

The visitors had Steven Snaith sent off for a high challenge on Alex Byrne and were second best throughout the second qualifying round contest, which attracted a crowd of 320.

Jack Tuchy opened the scoring for the Barnsley hosts in the 25th minute following a good move by Gavin Allott and Jake Beesley.

Moments later, a well-struck Byrne effort also hit the Whitby woodwork.

Shaw Lane’s man-of-the-match Allott went on to add a second goal on 76 minutes before Beesley wrapped up matters from close range in the dying seconds of the game.

Manager Chris Hardy said: "I was disappointed with the result, the performance, and the dismissal of Snaith. We didn't give ourselves an opportunity to make a contest of it. They were one of the better sides we have played last season - but there was room for improvement in our display."

Whitby were at home last night in the first round of the Integro League Cup against Goole AFC, who are currently 21st in division one north.

Former Hartlepool United youth goalkeeper James Dawson was in line to make his competitive debut.

The Seasiders , meanwhile, visit 18th-placed Coalville Town on Saturday for a 3pm kick off.

Chris Hardy's men are seeking a fifth consecutive league victory to to preserve their position at the top of the table.
