HALF-centuries for all-rounders Jim Allenby and unbeaten Lewis Gregory have helped Somerset gain a stranglehold over Yorkshire during the second afternoon of their Specsavers County Championship Division One clash at Headingley.

The visitors have advanced from 218-4 at lunch to 358-7 from 90.5 overs at tea, a lead of 213.

Ryan Sidebottom had Peter Trego caught behind for 46, ending a 64-run stand with Allenby for the fifth wicket, as the score fell to 228-5 in the 63rd over.

Allenby, for 50, was then trapped lbw by Adil Rashid with 257 on the board.

Gregory and Craig Overton then shared 101 for the seventh wicket, with the former reaching 69 not out at tea.

At least Rashid managed to trap the latter lbw for 38 in the final over of the session.
