DAVID Willey believes Yorkshire could set a target which may never be overcome with a hat-trick of trophies this season.

The White Rose squad are aiming to become the first side since Warwickshire in 1994 to win three competitions in a single season.

They are well placed in the Specsavers County Championship and have qualified for Saturday's NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day at Edgbaston, where they take on Durham in the semi-final.

Today, they take on Kent at Canterbury in the quarter-finals of the Royal London One-Day Cup, starting at 2pm.

"We're in all three competitions, and we've got a group of lads here who don't take that for granted and genuinely believe we can win all three," said the England limited-overs all-rounder.

"That's what we're aiming to do. It would be a great achievement, and it would be something that I don't think many counties, if any, would do again.

"It's a great position for us to be in at this stage of the season, and everyone is looking forward to the last six or seven weeks."

After today's clash, the focus switches to Finals Day, an occasion 26-year-old Willey is hugely familiar with.

This will be his fourth appearance, including three in the last four years.

He won the man-of-the-match award for winners Northants in the 2013 final against Surrey, thanks largely to a hat-trick, but was on the losing side to Lancashire last year.

Andrew Hodd is the only other Yorkshire player who has been there more than once, so Willey's experience will be important.

"I guess so," he added. "My primary role with regards to the move here was to try and help improve the club's one-day cricket.

"There will be an expectation on me to perform, but that's the case with any one-day game.

"We will have the England lads back, which will make it a massive headache for the coaches to pick 11 players.

"It's a big day and a great day, particularly if we win it.

"It does seem to have become bigger than the Lord's final, but at the end of the day we are taking them all as seriously as the other."

Yorkshire face a Kent side today including some significant batting talent, particularly in the form of Sam Northeast and Sam Billings.

They finished second in the South Group, courtesy of five wins and three defeats form their eight matches compared to Yorkshire's third-placed finish with four wins, three defeats and a no result.

But, with Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Gary Ballance in the squad after Test duty, the Vikings are definitely favourites to advance to a home semi-final against either Northamptonshire or Surrey.

"We can't wait," said coach Jason Gillespie. "Kent are a county we haven't played too much against of late, so we're really excited about that.

"They've got some match-winners and have played some really good cricket in the 50-over competition, so it's going to be a massive challenge, but we feel we've got the team to compete with them."

Northants and Surrey lock horns at Wantage Road today, with the potential semi-final taking place on either August 28 or 29.
