TIM Bresnan’s second successive Specsavers County Championship fifty has guided Yorkshire to a sizeable 151-run lead over Durham on day two at Emirates Riverside.

Bresnan has expertly guided the champions’ tail, with 63 in 323 all out replying to 172 at tea.

He shared 43 inside 20 overs for the ninth wicket with Josh Shaw, whose 24 represented a career best before he was bowled trying to pull a Scott Borthwick long hop.

Ben Coad, 17 not out on debut, secured Yorkshire’s third batting point for reaching 300 with successive boundaries off Graham Onions.

He shared 44 inside 13 overs with Bresnan for the tenth wicket before the latter clipped Barry McCarthy to deep mid-wicket.
