OLD Malton St Mary's needed just a point to overcome to win the York Minster Engineering League Premier Division. In their final league match at Church Fenton White Horse Old Malton knew they still had a job to do but eventually came away with a 4-1 win, despite a very lively surface.

Old Malton started slowly but soon increased the tempo to carve out a few early chances with Daman Cox hitting the crossbar and Steve Baxter hitting a post.

Top goalscorer, Marcus Godsell, broke the deadlock when Scott Nicholas chipped the ball across the face of goal allowing the striker to volley the ball through the legs of the goalkeeper.

One soon became two when some good work from Godsell enabled Danny Fogg to be released and he made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

Godsell claimed his second just before the break when he beat three defenders for pace and rattled the ball into the corner of the net.

The second half brought out a composed OMFC knowing if they maintained the current scoreline the title was theirs.

Godsell claimed his well deserved hat-trick with a spectacular left footed effort from the right hand side of the area that flew into the far top left hand corner.

With the game coming to a close Church Fenton claimed a consolation goal.

The Premier Division title winners' Shield was presented to Old Malton St Mary's after the game.

Old Malton St Mary's now travel to Tockwith on Saturday to face Pocklington in the Senior Cup final, kick-off 2pm.
