THE Easterby family took the £1,000 feature race at the Bedale Point-to-Point meeting - as Things Change held off Cara Court at the line.

A large crowd was in attendance at the meeting, with the going officially good to soft for the six races.

The George F White Men's Open race was the Yorkshire area feature and, like in the earlier Ladies' Open, a fast early pace was set - Billing taking up the running under Tom Hamilton.

However, this did not pay off for Hamilton and William Easterby, riding his mother Sarah’s Things Change, crept into the race and took the spoils.

Cara Court was a close second on his first run in the pointing sphere, while Rosie Du Berlais and Elliot Brooksbank finished in third.

The day's racing had started with an incident-packed Barkers of Northallerton Confined Conditions race.

Hand Act Or Part made most of the running until crashing out four fences from home and bringing down the favourite, Greensalt, ridden by Easterby.

This left the way clear for Battle Range, who was running well at the time to go on and win by 15 lengths for Jacqueline Coward. Richard Smith and Mistissio were second, and Lord of the Course was the only other of the seven starters to finish.

Three went to post for the Strutt & Parker Bedale and West of Yore hunt race.

The maiden, See Mores Finale, made most of the running but it was point-to-point secretary Grania Furness’ Shantou Prince, ridden by her son Christy, that came through after the second last and won, with Nosecond Chance and Harry Carlisle second and See Mores Finale third.

The Subaru Restricted Race had the biggest field of the day and it could have gone one of three ways over the last fence - Fairy Mix under Elliot Brooksbank taking the honours.

The mare has looked progressive since winning her maiden earlier this season and was runner-up to the useful Bedford Forrest last time out so this was not a surprise.

According To Dan ran an excellent race and pushed Fairy Mix all the way to the line to finish second by a neck for Tom Strawson, with Moscanisi and Henry Morsehead two lengths back in third.

Topaze Collognes and Drill Sergeant set a furious pace in the Silk Family Law Ladies' Open but it was the held-up horses that landed the spoils, with Knocklong, reunited with Cath Walton, racking up his fifth win in a row.

Young Hurricane and Freya Brewer were never far away but could not quite get on terms on the run to the line, while Trop Fort finished third for Jacqueline Coward.

Racing finished with the Armstrong Watson Open Maiden, which provided William Easterby with a double on the day as he won aboard Stagecoach Jasper, a runner-up on his last two starts.

The good three miles played to Stagecoach Jasper's strength and he was able to stay on from the lightly-raced Market Road, who looks full of potential.

Market Road was ridden by Will Milburn, while Quest of Valour was third under Christy Furness.
