SCEAU ROYAL, beaten only by a nose at Wetherby last month, can return to winning ways at Warwick this afternoon.

Alan King's French recruit lost no caste in defeat on his latest start against prolific winner Leoncavallo and missed out only on the nod in a driving finish.

A stronger end-to-end gallop would undoubtedly have suited Sceau Royal much better at Wetherby as he seemed patently unsuited by the pedestrian early pace which then developed into a half-mile dash.

Having previously dead-heated for first place with the well-regarded Adrien Du Pont at Chepstow, nap selection Sceau Royal is likely to be hard to beat in the Guy Salmon Land Rover Juvenile Hurdle on what promises to be a lucrative afternoon for his trainer.

King also saddles YANWORTH in the PJ & KR Smith-Maxwell Horse Ambulances Novices' Hurdle.

A dual-winning bumper horse last season, Yanworth made a successful start to his hurdling career at Exeter last month when running away from the useful Welsh Shadow.

He is penalised for that success but he looks a smart performer in the making and a follow-up looks on the card.

BRISTOL DE MAI takes the eye in the Highflyer/Million In Mind 4 & 5yo Novices' Chase.

A Grade 1 winner over hurdles last season, the four-year-old shaped well when chasing home the smart Garde Le Victoire on his fencing debut at Uttoxeter last month. That winner has since gone on to win in smart company at Cheltenham.

Also worth noting at Warwick are PIED DU ROI (12.40), who has been in good form since his summer break, and COCO SHAMBHALA (1.45), who showed plenty of potential in bumpers last season and who now tackles hurdles.

At Kempton's all-weather Flat fixture, prize money of £40,000 is up for grabs in the EBF Stallions Hyde Stakes which is the target for North Yorkshire raider SOVEREIGN DEBT, trained near Easingwold by David Nicholls.

The six-year-old has been in cracking form this year, winning in Listed and Group 3 company in Ireland and holding his form extremely well. He faces strong opposition here, not least from Richard Pankhurst and Gordon Lord Byron, a former Group 1 winner, now stepping back up to a mile. But Sovereign Debt does not know how to run a bad race and has good each-way prospects in a high-class contest.

CLOWANCE ONE gets the vote in the 32Red.com Handicap.

Jimmy Fortune's mount finished a creditable fifth at Newmarket last time out and had previously scored on this course. This return to a Polytrack surface is likely to be relished by Clowance One, who has scope for further improvement.

John Gosden brings PREDILECTION back into action in the Richard Casey 80th Birthday Median Auction Stakes.

The juvenile looked a horse to follow when finishing second at Newbury in May. He did not, however, reappear through the summer and his comeback outing is now awaited with interest.

Gosden introduces AMANAAT in the 32Red Casino Maiden Stakes and this well-bred son of Exceed And Excel is not to be overlooked. Paul Hanagan takes the mount wearing the colours of his retaining owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.
