MALCOLM Jefferson, who saddles his high-class Oscar Rock in tomorrow's Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham, can figure among the winners on the most prestigious jumps course in Britain this afternoon.

DOUBLE W'S makes the long journey from Jefferson's Norton yard to contest the Opus Energy Novices' Handicap Hurdle and is fancied to deliver in the hands of Brian Hughes at useful odds in a wide-open race.

A winning bumper horse last season, Double W's has had two runs over hurdles, chasing home the smart Imada at Ayr on the latest of them last month. He is now into handicap company for the first time and looks to figure on a reasonable mark. He is napped to score and set the scene for stablemate Oscar Rock's big-race bid tomorrow.

Last year's World Hurdle winner More Of That returns to the scene of his finest moment to make his fencing bow in the Steel Plate And Sections Novices but is passed over in favour of AS DE MEE.

Whereas More Of That, trained by Jonjo O'Neill, has not had a preparatory outing this season and who was restricted to only one race last season, As de Mee is likely to have a fitness advantage on the day. Paul Nicholls' charge chased home Cocktails At Dawn at Chepstow last month and that creditable reappearance on his chasing bow should have set him up nicely for this stern test which also sees Might Bite and Ballyalton among his rivals.

PENGLAI PAVILLION was a useful horse on the Flat and he is on something of a roll over timber, being unbeaten in three starts this season.

John Ferguson's classy five-year-old faces his toughest task in the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle but promises to be a tough nut to crack under Aidan Coleman.

It is never a bad ploy to follow JP McManus-owned runners in cross country events on this course and his distinctive gold-and-green silks will be carried by JOSIES ORDERS in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase.

Trained by Enda Bolger and the mount of Nina Carberry, who is very accomplished on this course, Josies Orders won a similar race at Punchestown in May and should have been well served in the fitness department by a recent run over hurdles at Galway.

Dan Skelton has good prospects of figuring in the shake-up with LE BACARDY in the opening Paddy Power Handicap Chase.

Although he failed to cut much ice on his comeback outing over two and a half miles in the very competitive Old Roan Chase at Aintree last month, Le Bacardy had previously won a valuable handicap over this distance at Market Rasen in May.

Skelton can also make his presence felt at Hexham, a track where he seldom has runners. He can strike with MASTER JAKE, a dual point-to-point winner in the Free Spins At 188Bet Casino Novices' Hurdle and also Madame Trigger, who showed enough last season to suggest she can pick up the 188bet.co.uk Mares' Maiden Hurdle.

Malton-based Jamie Hamilton should enjoy a good spin from TRUST THOMAS in the 188Bet Handicap Chase.

A capable horse and one who has winning form on this course, Trust Thomas is an admirably consistent money-earner but is not the easiest of horses to win with, a fact underlined by only two career successes. Hamilton's 7lb claim should help put him in the mix here.

In the Money Back Special At 188Bet Handicap Hurdle, a good run is expected from NOTONEBUTTWO, trained by Chris Grant.

The gelding won his first three races last season so the lack of a preparatory outing should not count against him as he reverts to hurdles after two non-completions over fences at the end of last term.
