IT'S BACK to business today for Jack Garritty, who lost out by two winners in the Stobart Apprentice Championship, which climaxed on Saturday and saw 17-year-old Tom Marquand clinch the title less than 12 months since riding his first winner.

Garritty, who made a gallant attempt to become the fourth Richard Fahey apprentice to lift the crown after Robert Winston, Paul Hanagan and Freddie Tylicki, is in action at Pontefract this afternoon and has bright prospects of completing a double for his boss on Hold On Magnolia and Pamushana.

Having ridden out his 3lb claim when completing a treble at York ten days ago, Garritty is now riding as a fully-fledged jockey. In HOLD ON MAGNOLIA, he has a mount who shaped well on his debut at Beverley four weeks ago, staying on strongly to finish fourth after being hampered at the start and losing ground early on in proceedings.

The step up from five furlongs to six will surely suit Hold On Magnolia in the Get Social With totepool On Facebook Maiden Auction Stakes. Among the dangers is the Paul Midgley-trained Mr Orange, who showed ability on his debut here last month. The youngster, who carries the colours of Andy Turton, is named after Graham Orange, the long-time PRO of Go Racing In Yorkshire, who lives near Tadcaster and who will be at Pontefract to watch his namesake in action.

Garritty rides PAMUSHANA in the Bet totequadpot Handicap.

The three-year-old has run a succession of solid races this season, most recently when runner-up at Ripon three weeks ago. Give in the ground is important to the Fahey-trained filly and conditions should be fine for her today.

The £40,000 totepool ebfstallions.com Silver Tankard takes pride of place on the Pontefract card and the vote goes to THANKSFORTELLINGME, trained by Ralph Beckett, whose Simple Verse gained a fine victory on Qipco Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday after her controversial St Leger triumph when she lost the race in the stewards room, only to regain it on appeal.

Thanksfortellingme, the mount of Richard Kingscote, was a winner on his debut at Goodwood before following up in fine style in a conditions race at Epsom where he won by three lengths.

This progressive son of Notnowcato deserves a crack at this Listed race and, with his stamina for a mile proven, he is fancied to run a big race for his in-form trainer.

DEANSGATE may prove the answer to the opening Bet toteplacepot Nursery, also over a mile.

Previously trained by Richard Fahey and now with Julie Camacho, who bought him at the July Sales. Deansgate has shown a fair level of ability in maiden company not least when finishing fourth at Beverley on his last two starts.

Now into handicap company running off an opening mark of 72, he is fancied to prove competitive under Joe Doyle and is awarded the nap vote. The promising AIRTON, returning from a seven-week break and also making his handicap debut, may prove a potent danger.

NEARLY CAUGHT, beaten only a length and a half into fifth place in the recent Cesarewitch Handicap at Newmarket, has only to reproduce that level of form to win the Phil Bull Trophy, while softish ground and five furlongs are the ideal requirements for Lawrence Mullaney's likeable sprinter JACK LUEY, who is not one to dismiss lightly in the first leg of the Bet totetrifecta Handicap.

Two North Yorkshire raiders are worthy of attention at this afternoon's Windsor meeting.

SCORELINE, trained at Nawton near Helmsley by David O'Meara, tackles the Ben Woollacott Memorial Handicap with stable apprentice Josh Doyle on board.

The four-year-old returned to winning ways at Catterick last month when getting the better of Sartori, with Doyle in the saddle. Off only a 3lb higher mark here, the combination is fancied to follow up.

BOLLINHOPE, trained at Wetherby by Richard Guest, runs in the first division of the JRL Group Amateur Riders Handicap.

Although his recent efforts have been far from inspiring, Bollihope has slipped to a very attractive mark, a full 10lb lower than when winning at Haydock for John Gosden in May. With leading amateur Simon Walker booked to ride, he makes appeal.

Also worth keeping on side at Windsor are the potentially smart NICE FUTURE (2.50) and WILD STORM (3.50), back from a six-month break.

Today's tips - Pontefract 2.10 Deansgate (NAP), 2.40 Hold On Magnolia, 3.10 Pamushana, 3.40 Thanksfortellingme, 4.40 Nearly Caught, 5.10 Jack Luey,
