There has been no play possible before lunch on day three at Hove today, where Yorkshire are bidding for the seventh successive LV= County Championship win.

Yorkshire posted a commanding 494 before lunch during Saturday’s second day against relegation-threatened Sussex, including 165 for Gary Ballance and 78 for Tim Bresnan.

The pair shared a Yorkshire seventh-wicket record partnership of 197 in matches between these two counties as they batted for the majority of the first evening and the second morning.

Adil Rashid then struck three times in the Sussex reply during the afternoon and evening sessions yesterday as the hosts reached 175-4 on a slow pitch. Captain Ed Joyce made 100.

The morning rain has ceased and the mopping up process is underway.
