YORKSHIRE remained in control at Scarborough as they took the final four Worcestershire wickets they needed to enforce the follow-on.

The Tykes bowled out the visitors for 280 in their first innings before Richard Oliver was dismissed in the final over before lunch as the Pears reached the interval 18-1 - still 132 in arrears.

Worcestershire lost Joe Clarke for a career-best 88 as edged Ryan Sidebottom to Alex Lees at first slip before Joe Leach was trapped LBW by Adil Rashid for 23.

Jack Shantry (17) then popped a catch to Alex Lees at silly-point to hand Rashid his second wicket, but some lusty blows from Saeed Ajmal left Yorkshire sweating as they looked to make their opponents bat again.

Ajmal hit seven fours in a partnership of 38 with Chris Morris before being bowled by Tim Bresnan’s third ball of the morning just one run short of the follow-on target of 281.

And Bresnan was rewarded with the new ball, which he used to good effect to trap Oliver LBW for 14 moments before the break.
