LEADERS Sessay left it late to record their 11th win of the season in Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division one.

The division’s top side played host to Folkton & Flixton and it was largely thanks to a century from former York star Simon Mason that they won with only two balls to spare.

The visitors, led by Jamie Nesfield (96) with support from Harry Walmsley (35) and Richard Malthouse (32), posted a respectable 255-9.

Malthouse (3-34) then took three wickets in the home side’s reply, but Mason (113) shared partnerships of 97 with Mark Wilkie (47) and 90 with Nick Thorne (48) to set up the victory by two wickets.

Driffield Town II held on to second place with a six-wicket win at Bridlington, Grant Halder top-scoring with 96 for the visitors as they chased down the home side’s 229-7.

Simon Leeson backed up last week’s 74 with 78 for the hosts and Nick Tennant added 59 as Nicky Johnson finished with 3-60.

Ben Dobson hit 49, assisting Halder to set up victory for the loss of four wickets.

Bolton Percy climbed up to third as they completed the double over Sewerby. Again, Tom Atkinson proved the difference, his innings of 75 mirroring the visitors’ winning margin.

Their total of 200 also contained 46 from Alistair Rigby and came despite the efforts of Lewis Beasley (5-40).

Scott Cooper followed last week’s century with 68 but the hosts could only manage 125, Jacob Green taking 3-23.

The day’s closest finish saw Malton & Old Malton beat Pickering by 12 runs.

Needing 220 to beat their hosts, the visitors looked well set with half-centuries from David Greenlay (58) and Tom Sigsworth (54), but Ryan Gaughan (4-25) and Stuart Watmore (3-46) bowled their side to victory.

Earlier, Mark Shepherd (4-49) took four of the six wickets to fall as Steve Linsley (66) and Daniel Foxton (54no), with a second consecutive half-century, helped compile a winning total.

Osbaldwick climbed off the bottom, winning for only the second time this season, as Goole Town’s disappointing form continued.

Sam Thompson (56) top-scored for the visitors and received support from Andrew Richardson (37) as they posted 186-8, David England finishing with 3-36.

Andrew Hall (4-25) and Alex Rippon (3-36) then combined well as Ben Shelton (31) provided the lone highlight of the 128 all out reply.

Beverley Town II won for the first time in four matches, beating Whitkirk at home by five wickets.
