NORTH Yorkshire trainer Mick Easterby can take advantage of having two meetings within an hour of his Sheriff Hutton yard today by saddling winners at both Beverley this afternoon and Thirsk this evening.

Easterby is fancied to hit the target with both ALDRETH and CITY GROUND at Beverley, while at Thirsk TAMAYUZ MAGIC is fancied to add to the stable's scoresheet.

Few horses who start life in point-to-points subsequently make a success of Flat racing, but Aldreth is doing just that having had his early education between the flags.

He has won his last two races at Musselburgh in the style of an improving stayer on the level. The 130th Year Of The Watt Memorial is Aldreth's target today and, with Graham Gibbons on board, he can complete a hat-trick.

Serena Brotherton teams-up with nap selection City Ground in the Dorothy Laird Memorial Trophy Lady Riders' Handicap for the third successive year.

Successful in this contest, which is open to both amateur and professional female riders, City Ground finished second 12 months ago. This afternoon's contest does not look the most demanding and, despite having to carry top weight, City Ground is expected to take plenty of beating under his experienced pilot.

Tamayuz Magic bids for the Trevor Conley's 70th Birthday Handicap at Thirsk and has every chance of getting back on the winning trail.

A winner at Newcastle three starts ago, he has run well in defeat since, not least when runner-up at Ripon last time. Graham Gibbons, riding at both meetings, will be taking the mount on the gelding after transferring from Beverley.

Remaining at Thirsk, STELLA ETOILE has a useful chance in the Thirsk Races Jazz Night August 10th Apprentice Maiden Stakes.

The accomplished Jack Garritty takes the mount on the three-year-old, trained by his boss Richard Fahey. She has been running respectably in maiden company, including when fourth at Ayr last time.

The promising Scent Of Summer (8-10) and recent Beverley winner Thankstomonty (9-10) are two others to consider.

Back at Beverley, Tim Easterby has treble prospects with Ponty Royale, Relight My Fire and Stormin Tom.

RELIGHT MY FIRE goes particularly well on this course. He won here two starts ago, after scoring in the MacMillan Charity Race at York, and has since finished a close-up fourth on the same track. He should go well in the Sandra Evison Memorial Handicap.

PONTY ROYALE runs in the Racing UK Profits All Returned To Racing Maiden Stakes.

The juvenile showed signs of ability when fourth at Ripon last time. This stiffer track will suit here and she is well drawn in stall three in this five furlongs dash. Duran Fentiman takes the mount.

STORMIN TOM won well on this course three weeks ago and can follow-up off a 4lb higher mark in the Racing Again On Monday Evening Handicap.

Nigel Tinkler has two winning chances on the card. TINSILL has proved frustrating to follow, but he has slipped to a fair mark and can advantage in the 1000% Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing (division one) under Adrian Nicholls.

Tinkler is putting a visor on BELLE NELLIe in the second division of this five furlong race and Graham Lee's mount may not have to improve much on her recent effort behind Casterbridge at Haydock to take a hand in the finish.
