PAUL Hanagan, who stole the show at Newmarket on Saturday, ventures to Wetherby this afternoon and can carry on his winning run in the opening race on the card.

The former Malton-based jockey teamed-up with his long-time boss, Richard Fahey, to win Saturday's Bunbury Cup on Rene Mathis and followed up by landing the showpiece Darley July Cup on Muharaar, trained by Charlie Hills for the rider's retaining owner, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.

Hanagan pulls on the Maktoum colours again at Wetherby aboard TAWAKKOL, trained by the likewise in-form Mark Johnston, who is sure to be a strong fancy in the British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes.

In the frame in all his outings this season, and twice placed at York, Tawakkol was denied by only a head at Beverley on his latest start. He can surely find a winning opportunity before too much longer and opportunity is fancied to come knocking for him here.

Fahey also has good prospects of figuring among the winners with CLOUDS REST in the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival Handicap. A triple winner last season, this three-year-old just failed to get home over six furlongs at Ripon last time. This slightly shorter trip will be in her favour and she is well drawn in stall one.

Tony Hamilton, rider of Clouds Rest, can also have a say in the outcome of the DM Keith Seat & Skoda Handicap on ALTHAROOS. Sally Hall's gelding, a Beverley winner earlier this season, is now stepped up to a mile and a quarter after finishing unplaced in the Carlisle Bell on his latest start.

Steel Stockholder should go well for Anthony Brittain, whose Stanghow is one of Clouds Rest's main dangers earlier in the afternoon.

Runner-up at Ripon last time out, STEEL STOCKHOLDER was beaten only a neck by Ahoy There. That was a step back in the right direction and Steel Stockholder has every chance of capitalizing on his favoured low draw under David Allan.

Also worth noting at Wetherby are Lawrence Mullaney's KOPASSUS (5-25), narrowly beaten at Hamilton last time, and Ollie Pears' Thirsk winner EXCLUSIVE CONTRACT ( 5-55).

Up at Ayr, SANDGATE is napped to win the Racing UK I Price 3 Devices Handicap.

The mount of Sammy Jo Bell, riding for her boss Richard Fahey, Sandgate got off the mark at Haydock on his latest start. Although he had only a head to spare at the line, he never really looked like being caught after striking the front entering the final furlong.

Sandgate has been raised 4lb by the handicapper and is selected to follow up off bottom weight.

Stablemate STYLISH BOY should go well in the British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes, in which the Mark Johnston-trained newcomer New Caledonia could be a potentially potent rival, given the strength in depth the Middleham handler has among his juveniles.

Stylish Boy shaped well to finish third on this course on his debut over six furlongs. Now stepping up to seven, and with a race under his belt, he should make a bold bid under Jack Garritty.

David O' Meara's THANKSTOMONTY, a winner at Beverley recently, can follow-up off only a 2lb higher mark in the Racing UK Handicap, while INVOKE will be a popular choice in the Watch On Three Devices racinguk.com/anywhere Handicap.

Trained by Keith Dalgleish, whose stable is going particularly well, Invoke has won at Haydock and Carlisle over this trip of seven furlongs, those two victories sandwiching a Hamilton defeat when he was caught out by attempting more than a mile.
