SOUL BROTHER can resume winning ways at Redcar this afternoon on behalf of the in-form Tim Easterby, who sent out three winners on Saturday.

The Great Habton trainer did particularly well with the selection’s half-sister Body And Soul, who won the Two-Year-Old Trophy on this course and, although Soul Brother is not as talented as her sibling, he is fancied to clinch the featured Racing UK Anywhere Handicap after two good efforts in defeat.

Narrowly beaten at Musselburgh on his penultimate start, after getting going a fraction too late, Soul Brother has since finished third to Invincible Ridge over this course and distance, beaten by only a length and a half.

His turn can surely not be delayed much longer and this looks a good chance for him to find opportunity knocking.

The opening Irish Stallion Farms Median Auction Maiden Fillies’ Stakes may not take a lot of winning and David’s Duchess could be the one to be on in the hands of Tony Hamilton.

Trainer Richard Fahey is enjoying a fine time with his juvenile team this season and this filly is a daughter of the speedy Zebedee.

Fahey also has leading claims with Cosmic Statesman, also the mount of Hamilton, in the Voltigeur Restaurant Maiden Handicap over one and three-quarter miles.

A creditable second at Nottingham on his seasonal bow, the three-year-old did not fare as well in stronger company at Pontefract next time.

This modest affair presents him with a better opportunity to open his winning account.

Mick Easterby can also figure on the Redcar scoresheet.

The Sheriff Hutton trainer - Tim’s uncle - will be represented by Space War in the Download Your Racing UK App Handicap.

The eight-year-old won at Southwell last week and if he can reproduce that Fibresand form on turf, he is probably capable of defying his 6lb penalty.

Danielle Mooney, who claims a valuable 7lb allowance, is in the saddle.

Lady Cecil’s promising Distain (4.20) and Mountain Man (5.20), another from the Mick Easterby stable, who is likely to appreciate the return to fast ground, are also worthy of attention on the Redcar programme.

Noodles Blue Boy can score for Ollie Pears at Leicester today.

The veteran sprinter has been running well lately and has finished in the frame in all his three outings so far this season.

Robert Winston now takes over from an apprentice rider and Noodles Blue Boy has every chance of defying top weight over a course and distance where he has been successful in the past.

Clive Cox re-introduces Rosalie Bonheur in the Coronation Fillies’ Handicap.

The three-year-old was unbeaten in three starts last season and progressed with every start.

Just how much further she can go is anyone’s guess, but this looks a sensible starting point and, although it looks a competitive race, Adam Kirby’s mount should go well on behalf of Lambourn trainer Clive Cox.

Recent winner World Record (2.30) and the promising Little Voice (3.00) are two others to note.

Redcar today: 2.20 David’s Duchess (NAP), 2.50 Cosmic Statesman, 3.20 So It’s War, 3.50 Space War, 4.20 Distain, 4.50 Soul Brother, 5.20 Mountain Man, 5.55 Walk Right Back.

Leicester today: 2.30 World Record, 3.00 Little Voice, 3.30 Noodles Blue Boy, 4.00 Orlando Rogue, 4.30 Rosalie Bonheur, 5.00 War Department, 5.30 Gold Medallion, 6.05 Retro Valley.

Today’s other meetings: Hexham, Huntingdon and Lingfield.
