DAVID O'MEARA, who fired in two winners at York's opening meeting last weekend, can complete another double at Ayr today.

The North Yorkshire trainer is fancied to score with Regal Dan, who is overdue a winning turn, and Master Bond, who makes a quick reappearance after a creditable effort at Thirsk last Saturday.

Regal Dan, a newcomer to the O'Meara stable this season, has been narrowly beaten in his two outings to date, going down by a head at Catterick and a nose at Musselburgh on his latest start.

The five-year-old has good prospects of making it third-time-lucky with Danny Tudhope on board in the Farrar McCamley Handicap over seven furlongs.

Master Bond lines-up in the New Website At ayr-racecourse.co.uk Handicap. The six-year-old proved just unable to get to the rejuvenated Captain Dunne at Thirsk on Saturday.

He can gain quick consolation under Tudhope in this five furlong dash.

It was at this meeting last year that John Quinn introduced The Wow Signal to make a winning debut by a wide margin. The colt went on to win the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville.

It would be expecting a lot for Quinn to produce another juvenile of that quality in this afternoon's corresponding race, the EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes, but the fact that he has chosen this contest for Ancient Astronaut may be a hint worth taking.

A speedily-bred son of Kodiac, he is not one to overlook, despite the presence of Birkdale, a debutante from the Richard Fahey stable, which seemingly has a strong team of two-year-olds.

Linda Perratt saddles four runners in the Weddings At Western House Hotel Handicap, the pick of which may be Blue Sonic, the mount of Malton apprentice Sammy Jo Bell, who posted a York success last Friday on Dusky Queen.

Blue Sonic finished third to stable mate Jinky on this course three weeks. Likely to strip fitter today, the sprinter is fancied to take top spot.

Wetherby trainer Richard Guest has Hydrant in rude health and the veteran is napped to complete a hat-trick of wins in the Fly For Less Glasgow Prestwick Airport Handicap.

Successful at Thirsk and previously on this course, the nine-year-old can defy a 4lb rise to oblige again. Connor Beasley again has the mount.

Micky Hammond has his horses in tremendous form and the Middleham trainer can add to his rising tally with Politbureau in the Robert Young At Rosemount House Memorial Handicap.

A winner at Redcar on his penultimate start, Polibureau has since finished second at Catterick. He is in good heart and can resume winning ways under PJ McDonald.

At Lingfield, Wonder Laish can recover losses from her latest defeat in the Telegraph Maiden Stakes.

The William Haggas-trained filly failed by a neck to justify favouritism at Windsor last month. She can go one better under Pat Cosgrave on what will be only her third career start.

Middleham trainer Mark Johnston sends Mambo Rhythm to the Surrey for the Menzies Distribution Ltd Handicap.

The four-year-old ran well to finish second at Musselburgh last week and has every chance of going one better under Silvestre de Sousa.

Also worth noting are handicap debutante Tropicana Bay (4.30) and the consistent Sixties Love (5.00).
