KIRKDALE United rounded off their title-winning campaign in the newitts.com Beckett League with a 1-0 thrashing of weakened hosts Pickering Knights in the final game in the league.

Division two winners Kirkdale United ended with a nine-point lead at the top of the table.

Kirkdale stormed into a six-goal first-half lead as Alex Croall and Jamie Harper both notched braces to add to two own goals.

Harper added two more in the second half to finish with four, Croall completed a hat-trick and Luke Walton got the last goal of the game.

Josh Berry was Kirkdale’s man of the match, with Sean Murray also impressing.

The Beckett League are on the lookout for a few new teams for next season. This season saw 10 teams in the first division and 12 in the second but league chiefs ideally want 12 in each. Any team interested is asked to phone Mike Sturgess on 01751 476803 for further information.

• DUNCOMBE Park’s annual awards night was hosted by sponsors Scott’s of Helmsley.

Park achieved promotion to the newitts.com Beckett League first division and also reached two cup semi-finals. Secretary Tommy Garbutt presented the awards.

• RYEDALE Sports Club, whose first team play in Scarborough & District League division one and whose reserves have been relegated to division two of the newitts.com Beckett League will hold their annual general meeting on Sunday, May 24 at Bar 4, Market Place, Pickering, starting at 7pm.

All players and supporters are asked to attend. Anyone wishing to play or help with the club in the 2015-16 season is also invited.
