KIRKBYMOORSIDE stormed into the final of the Scarborough & District FA Harbour Cup after a dramatic ending to their last-four clash.

The Moorsiders, champions elect in the York Minster Engineering League third division as they continue to climb the tiers after joining that league in 2013, trailed Scarborough & District League division one side Seamer Sports 2-0 and 3-1 in their semi-final.

However, Kirkby hit back and won the tie with a goal five minutes from time by Jack Dowson.

In the final on a date and venue still to be decided, Kirkby will face Esk Vale & Cleveland League side Lealholm, who beat Scarborough League high-fliers Filey Town in the other semi-final.

Hosts Kirkbymoorside fell two down as Gary Lawton set up Danny Bradbury to open the scoring after 10 minutes before netting himself with a 20-yard shot.

Jason Brown got the Moorsiders off the mark just before half-time but, early in the second half, Lawton, Seamer’s man of the match, scored his second goal to have his side eyeing a final appearance.

Aaron Rivis scored again to bring the Moorsiders back into the game but Seamer stayed in command until a dramatic last 10 minutes.

A second goal by Brown levelled matters - and confirmed the striker as man of the match - and then Dowson scored the winner to put the Moorsiders into the final.

Lealholm shocked Filey, the current first division leaders in the Scarborough League, 2-1 in the other tie, thanks to a deserved late winner.

Duncan Marsden fired Lealholm into the lead after 18 minutes with the only goal of the first half.

The second half saw Filey come more into the game and former Pickering Town striker Darren Clough hit a post shortly before bagging a 68th-minute equaliser.

However, that goal was largely against the run of play and Lealholm regrouped and, in the last 10 minutes, got well on top.

Marsden saw a 20-yard shot saved superbly by keeper Dave Tonks, but, five minutes from the end of an epic cup battle, Marsden bagged the winner after excellent work by substitute Arron Leaman.
