MALTON’S Ben Myers enjoyed success when Eboracum Motor Club kick-started their popular series of club trials on Saturday at the excellent venue of Hovingham quarries.
The setting-out crew laid on a testing four-lap, 10-section course for the 65 entrants and there were clear winners in every class.
Myers, who has upped his game over the last fortnight with some solid rides, excelled even more to win the intermediate class ahead of the experienced Gary Collinson by more than 20 marks.
In the expert class, Rob Carter, from Stockton, on an AM Gas Gas, could not match the youthful exuberance of Pocklington’s Olly Kendra, who grabbed the victory with unpenalised rides on the last five sections, while Carter dropped four.
Ouseburn’s Simon Gill blew the competition away to win the over-50s section by 14 marks from Masham’s Tim Marrison. Gill’s unpenalised ride on section three was never matched.
