SHELLEY BIRKETT, who moved from Newmarket to North Yorkshire earlier this week to join Nawton trainer David O’Meara, makes a return journey south today to team up with one of her favourite horses.

Sabre Rock, trained by her mother Julia Fielden, heads to Lingfield in a bid to complete a notable five-timer on the course.

Successful in November, December and twice in January, Sabre Rock lines up in the coral.co.uk Best Odds Guaranteed On Racing Handicap.

Having gone up from a mark of 52 to 74, Sabre Rock faces a stiff enough task this afternoon, but Birkett will be hoping he can do his stuff yet again.

The 3lb claimer, having previously been attached to her mother’s yard, started with O’Meara on Monday and is hoping that widening her boundaries will bring her more opportunities. It promises to be a big year for her.

Connor Beasley, who rode a winner at Pisa in Italy on Sunday, has every chance of landing the 32Red Fillies’ Handicap on Bint Dandy.

Trained by Chris Dwyer, Bint Dandy carried Beasley, who is attached to Michael Dods’ Darlington yard, to a victory at Chelmsford a fortnight ago. A follow up may be achievable here off only a 4lb higher mark and on a course where Bint Dandy has scored previously.

The presence of Ryan Moore aboard Four Seasons in the featured 32Red.com Handicap, should be noted. The Godolphin runner won his final two starts last season, here and at Kempton.

A son of Dubawi, he has the scope for further improvement this term as a three- year-old.

Also worth noting are the in-form Quality Art (2.30) and course and distance winner Skidby Mill (5.30), the mount of Megan Nicholls, daughter of Paul Nicholls, who is beginning to make a name for herself as an apprentice on the Flat.

At Catterick, in-form trainer David Bridgwater aims to get the card off to a flying start with Lord Navits in the yorkshire-outdoors.co.uk Adventure Activities Selling Hurdle.

The seven-year-old trotted up by 19 lengths at Taunton last week and, provided this race does not come too soon for him, Lord Navits will be hard to beat under Jake Hodson.

Sheriff Hutton trainer Mick Easterby has good prospects of lifting the Dine And View At Catterick Races Handicap Chase with Classinaglass.

A prolific winner in point-to-points where he won seven of his 11 starts, Classinaglass has shaped well in two outings this term at Wetherby and Musselburgh. This looks a good opportunity for him to come out on top.

Deny may prove the answer to the Go Racing In Yorkshire Handciap Hurdle.

A winner on this course in January, Henry Hogarth’s gelding finished a good second to the in-form Nefyn Bay here last week. Tony Kelly has the mount.

Kim Bailey and Tom George are not usually represented on this course, but both trainers have excellent chances of a winner.

Bailey runs Allez Encore in the racinguk.com Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle A fluent winner at Plumpton last time out, she will take all the beating under Ed Cookson.

The George-trained Henri de Boistron, who runs in the catterickbridge.co.uk Novices’ Handicap Chase, got off the mark over fences with a neck success at Leicester three weeks ago.

There may be more to come from the five-year-old, who has had just three starts over the major obstacles. He is fancied to follow up.

Catterick today: 2.10 Lord Navits, 2.40 Classinaglass, 3.10 Allez Encore, 3.40 Deny, 4.10 Henri de Boistron, 4.40 Best Served Cold, 5.10 Song Saa.

Lingfield today: 2.30 Quality Art, 3.00 Bint Dandy, 3.30 Strong Steps, 4.00 Westerly, 4.30 Four Seasons, 5.00 Sabre Rock, 5.30 Skidby Mill.

Today’s other meeting: Kempton.
