JOCKEY Will Milburn scored on 10-1 shot Six A Side at the Sinnington Point-to-Point.

The rider powered to victory in the Subaru Restricted Race on a horse trained by his girlfriend, Emma Todd, as a big crowd celebrated the Sinnington Hunt’s 40th anniversary at Duncombe Park, in Helmsley.

Todd was second on Ruby Bay - five lengths adrift - and Harry Kinder was third on Baileys Benchmark. All three jockeys work for Sheriff Hutton trainer Mark Walford.

An excellent day’s racing began with Zitenka, a six-time hurdle winner under Rules, overhauling last year’s winner John Dillon to win the Campbell & Penty Hunt Members Race and give William Easterby the first leg of a double.

His second came aboard Camden in the Mixed Open.

Twelve runners went to post in the Savills Confined Hunts Race and it was Botany Cove, ridden by Jacqueline Coward, who led for much of the race. Held up last, though, Roycano - piloted by Harry Bannister - came through to take the lead on the final bend and win by eight lengths.

Kings Lodge was two-and-a-half lengths back in third for William Easterby and Max My Boy finished fourth for Russell Lindsay.

Novice riders turned out in the Jim Clare Memorial Six Year Olds and Over PPORA Club Members Race for veteran and novice riders. The contest provided the closest finish of the day and Millers Reef took the spoils under Tommie O’Brien.

Opera Og had been dropped out and arrived like a train at the finish but was given a bit too much to do by jockey Sean Murray and was beaten a head.

Last year’s winner, Trop Fort, was three lengths further back under Sally Coates and Radio Nowhere was fourth for Emma Chaston.

The Maiden Race was split into two divisions, the first of which was landed by Shantou Prince on his first run of the season under Christy Furness.

It was an impressive display, a 15-length success from Banderitos and William Easterby. Peter Beaumont’s homebred Shannon Silver was a length-and-a-half further back in third under his grandson, Henry Morshead.

Division two was claimed by Comedinewithme in good fashion under Joanna Mason.

The pair had finished a very close second two weeks ago and Mason felt her mount had jumped greenly that day and would improve for the run.

Aldreth was a neck further back in second for Bannister, and Knightofthegarter showed a big improvement on his debut to finish third by 15 lengths.
