TRUST THOMAS, runner-up on his last three starts, is fancied to get back on the winning trail at Wetherby this afternoon.

The seven-year-old, trained by Ann Hamilton, goes for the Kingsway Claims Handicap Chase over two miles with Tony Kelly in the saddle.

A winner at Newcastle in November, Trust Thomas has since twice finished runner-up on the same course as well as at Ayr on his latest start when he chased home Ubaltique.

Kelly’s 3lb claim will come in handy in reducing Trust Thomas’s big weight and the partnership is selected to come out on top.

One Track Mind returns to Wetherby, where he has twice scored in the past, for the Making An Honest Woman Of Debbie Novices’ Hurdle.

Trained by Warren Greatrex, the five-year-old was far from disgraced at Newbury last time when he finished fourth to Parlour Games in Group 1 company.

One Track Mind had previously won over hurdles on this course in November and had also scored in a bumper at this venue last spring. He should be hard to beat down in class this afternoon. Gavin Sheehan rides.

All eyes are on Tony McCoy even more than before he announced his pending retirement and Wetherby racegoers will be hoping that the legendary 19-times champion will be among the winners.

He does not appear to have any bankers among his mounts, but it would hardly be a surprise if he prevailed aboard At Reception and Ten Trees.

Trained by Jonjo O’Neill, At Reception runs in the Watch Racing UK Anywhere Handicap Hurdle.

Winner of one of his six starts over hurdles, the eight-year-old finished second at Doncaster last month on his first outing since last summer. He is entitled to improve with that run under his belt.

Ten Trees lines up in the first division of the Join Racing UK Club Mares’ National Hunt Flat Race. She has never previously raced, so it is impossible to promote her chances, but she is a nicely-bred mare and it is surely significant that North Yorkshire trainer Alan Swinbank has booked McCoy for the mount.

Also worth noting are Beyondtemptation (1.50) and Makadamia (2.20), who has to be forgiven her latest comeback effort at Ludlow, which might have been a much-needed outing considering she had not raced since winning at Exeter in May.

At Wolverhampton, York-trained Mister Marcasite deserves attention in the Bet In Play At Coral Handicap over a mile and a half.

Mel Brittain’s gelding has yet to score in seven tries on a synthetic surface, but he has finished a creditable runner-up on his last two visits to this course.

Twin Turbo may prove the answer to the Daily Enhanced ‘Magic Multiples’ At Unibet Handicap over five furlongs.

The Robert Cowell-trained three-year-old came good in handy style at Chelmsford last time. If he can reproduce that form on this Tapeta surface, he should go well off a 4lb higher mark.

Logans Lad has a leading chance in the Unibet Selling Stakes.

The five-year-old chased home Bogsnog at Wolverhampton last month and would hardly need to improve much on that effort to make his presence felt here.

Wetherby today: 1.50 Beyondtemptation, 2.20 Makadamia, 2.50 One Track Mind, 3.25 Trust Thomas (NAP), 3.55 At Reception, 4.25 Ten Trees, 5.00 Isla Fernandos.

Wolverhampton today: 2.00 Divine Call, 2.30 Illustrious Prince, 3.00 Mister Marcasite, 3.35 Pisces, 4.05 Twin Turbo, 4.35 Logans Lad, 5.10 On The Tiles.

Today’s other meeting: Taunton.
