RYEDALE Sports Club caused a major upset in the Scarborough & District League first division - winning 3-0 at United Sports Bar.

It was only their second win of the campaign but it gives them hope of escaping the drop. Jordan Thackray scored in each half and a late Rob Stead header following good work by Martin Myers sealed the result.

Seamer Sports beat Ayton 3-1. Gary Lawton opened and Luke Purvis doubled the lead just before the break. Ben Mason added a third before Ayton’s consolation.

Filey Town had a great 6-2 win at leaders Westover Wasps.

The Wasps went two up inside 10 minutes through James Seymour and Curtis Rose. But Filey hit back with a Josh Emmerson penalty and Cameron Dobson equalised four minutes into the seocnd half.

Filey got well on top and surged clear with goals by Benjamin Briggs, Darren Clough, Ricky Tomlinson and Phil Dickens to secure victory.

Edgehill edged Whitby Fishermen 3-2 at home. Phil Warnett put Edgehill ahead after 10 minutes but the Fishermen battled back and with 20 minutes remaining led 2-1.

Danny Collins equalised for Edgehill, and Andy Noon set up Warnett to score his second goal and win the match late on.

Meanwhile, West Pier reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup by beating Filey Town reserves 3-0.

Tommy Barker put Pier ahead after 30 minutes and second-half goals followed from Gary Thomas and Ali Caw.

Whitby RUFC continue to lead division two after a 9-1 win at FC Rosette. Phil Spencer hit four goals and Paul Jobling a hat-trick, with Marc Usher and Sam Richardson also netting.

Snainton impressed in winning 2-1 at Cayton Corinthians - all the goals coming inside 10 minutes.

Snainton went ahead against a strong wind through Shane Holt.

Alex May quickly equalised with a wind-assisted free-kick but Rob Holt soon restored Snainton’s lead.

Newlands Park reserves beat Athletico 2B 4-3. Shaun Dodson hit a hat-trick for Athletico but Brad Rowley, Kile Fields, Jonny Manson and Stefan Moon countered.

Scalby lost 4-2 at home to Duchess. Ashley Townley’s double gave Scalby a two-goal lead, but Duchess stormed back with second-half strikes by Nick Bell, Craig Sherwin, an own goal and Tim Jackson.

In division three, Sherburn drew 4-4 with Cayton reserves.

Sherburn’s marksmen were Paul Mills, Andy Adamson, Matty Pickard and Steven Frederickson. Mike Szalabski, Ashley Durham, Jake Sands and John Hodgson responded.

Eastway Sports beat Westover reserves with goals by Danny Moirr and Mark Craven.
