THE Flat turf season may be over for another year, but North Yorkshire jockey Joe Fanning continues his relentless quest for winners and heads to Kempton this evening to try and add to his tally.

Fanning has had another tremendous season. He has had just shy of 1,100 rides and has ridden 158 winners. Badr Al Badoor may be another success story for him in the featured BetBright.com Conditions Stakes over seven furlongs.

Trained at Newmarket by James Fanshawe, the four-year-old failed to cut much ice in a hot race at Ascot last time, but he had previously scored at Doncaster.

He is the winner of two of his four starts on a synthetic surface and seems to handle this course well.

This is a tight little race, which has attracted last year's winner Grey Mirage and also David O'Meara's Frontier Flight, but Badr Al Badoor is fancied to oblige for Fanning and make his long journey south well worthwhile.

In the first division of the Irish Stallion Farms Maiden Stakes, Fanning will be aboard Rennie Mackintosh for Johnston as the juvenile aims to step up on his second-placed effort at Wolverhampton last week.

There may be more to come from Rennie Mackintosh, but Secret Glance has slightly more convincing claims after a narrow success at Wolverhampton three weeks ago. Ed McMahon's charge will have Graham Gibbons in the saddle as he aims to go one better.

Nap selection McBirney should not be overlooked in the Book Now For Boxing Day Handicap.

Anyone who saw Paul d'Arcy's gelding run on this course last week when he cruised through the field and bounded clear entering the final furlong, will have wondered how he got beaten. But he appeared to idle in front and was nailed close home Innoko.

Jim Crowley takes over in the saddle this evening and will no doubt be aiming to produce McBirney late in the day on a course where he has won in the past.

Over the jumps at Ayr, the in-form Nicky Richards could prove the trainer to follow, just as he was at the most recent meeting at the Scottish venue when he completed a double.

Greystoke-based Richards kicks off in the BetVictor.com Maiden Hurdle with Azure Glamour, who looks sure to appreciate this step up to two and a half miles after being outpaced over a shorter trip at Kelso on his comeback and on his hurdling bow.

The five-year-old, who showed signs of ability in bumper company last season, surely has more to offer.

And The Man can also do Richards proud in the featured Follow@VictorRacing On Twitter Handicap Chase.

Twice a winner on this course on his final two starts last season, And The Man is establishing a progressive profile. It may be tough for him here, on his first outing of the campaign and running off his revised mark against horses of proven fitness, but he appeals as a horse on the upgrade and is not one to dismiss lightly.

It is guesswork just how good Imada, Richards' runner in the Play Live Casino At BetVictor.com National Hunt Flat Race is, but the Cumbrian trainer won an identical race with a fellow newcomer at the last meeting and appears to have a nice bunch of youngsters under his care. It would be no surprise if Imada can make a winning debut under Brian Harding, who also rides Azure Glamour and And The Man.

In the Play Casino at BetVictor.com Novices' Limited Handicap Chase, Ballyben may be good enough to utilise bottom weight.

Lucinda Russell's gelding looks to be going the right way after winning at Wetherby a couple of months ago. This is a tougher task but not necessarily one that will be beyond him.
